Your Graduation Lyrics

It’s been three whole years of me thinking about you every day
Sometimes for hours, sometimes in passing
Saw you from the bottom of the staircase
Stood out for hours as you complained
About how you haven’t seen your friends yet
That you’re too drunk to stand and
You not knowing if you can love him forever

Bullshit you fucking miss me
There I said it I guess I’ll talk to you in a few months
Sitting drunk on the sidewalk
I guess I’ll get up
I guess I’ll go for a walk
Press my shoes against the pavement
I swear this has got to be the hundredth
Time I’ve thought of you tonight

You weren’t the only one
who thought of us that way
I spend most nights awake
Wide awake

I never thought that I
Oh I would see the day
Where I’d just let you go
Let you walk away
Where I let you walk away

Used to call you crook, called you a bandit
There ain’t no other good damn reason why
my heart, it would go missing
For so many months so I was wishing that you
That you would stop pretending
Remember all those countless nights
When I told you I loved you
And to never forget it
Oh just forget it

You weren’t the only one
who thought of us that way
I spend most nights awake
Wide awake

I never thought that I
Oh I would see the day
Where I’d just let you go
Let you walk away
Where I let you walk away

You weren’t the only one
who thought of us that way
I spend most nights awake
Wide awake

I never thought that I
Oh I would see the day
Where I’d just let you go
Let you walk away
Go ahead and walk away

About Your Graduation Lyrics

Modern Baseball‘s tenth track and fifth single, “Your Graduation,” is a song about growing up, losing friends, and saying goodbye to the past. The band has said that the song was inspired by their transition from being a band of high school friends to being a full-fledged rock band with fans around the world.

There are a lot of key moments in the song that help to paint this picture, including the line “you were my best friend until I learned you were just another person,” which highlights the fact that people change as they get older, and those changes can lead to them drifting apart from each other.

Who is Modern Baseball?

Modern Baseball is an American indie rock band formed in 2011. The band consists of Jake Ewald (vocals, guitar), Brendan Lukens (vocals, bass), Ian Farmer (drums), and JT Woodruff (vocals, guitar).

The foursome met at the University of Maryland and formed Modern Baseball while they were still in high school. They released their first EP titled Sports in 2012, which was produced by Steve Evetts.

In 2013, Modern Baseball released their second EP titled Your Graduation. It received critical acclaim from sites such as AbsolutePunk and Sputnikmusic.com. Their next release was a split with Dads titled Dads & Grads that came out on May 1st of 2014, via Lame-O Records.

Their debut full-length album Sports came out on June 12th of, 2014, through Lame-O Records, Topshelf Records & Run For Cover Records. The album received rave reviews from publications such as Alternative Press Magazine and Pitchfork Media. They praised the album’s emotional lyrics as well as its indie rock sound that was reminiscent of bands like Say Anything and Taking Back Sunday.

Conclusion

Modern Baseball proves that they are still one of the best bands working in the genre. There is not a bad song on this album, and although each song sounds very similar, there’s a tonal variation that keeps each song fresh. Overall, “Your Graduation” is an incredibly listenable album with no let down. I highly recommend it to anyone who was (or was not) an angsty teenager who loved playing music and listening to song lyrics in their spare time.
